During a residency in rural Italy I created small watercolour paintings on rice paper, then left these out in the local environment for intervention by insects and animals.
I also gathered rocks, decorated them with baroque designs in royal icing, and returned them to their original settings for local wildlife to contemplate, engage with, and potentially edit. These represent an initial attempt to think about how to work in tandem with non human participants, as well as early musings on the Baroque, pattern, nature and control.
7 Stones, royal icing. Sizes variable approx. 10 x 10 x 10cm each
4 x paintings on rice paper, watercolour, sugar, approx. 15 x 25cm and 20 x 20cm.
