Amoebae work in progress

Work in progress production photos of soft sculptures for Exhibition Road Festival, June 2026. I will use the Research & Development grant to buy time and materials to experiment and learn skills to enable me to refine and then build on this initial series of fabric works, creating further 'humanoid' creatures and costumes.

All forms 110-120cm in length, except the small patterned one, which was the first prototype, using a mobile phone as a temporary screen.

I'm aiming to enable visitors to touch or pick up some of the forms, which will then react to them.

The plan is for several of the forms to contain screens with videos of moving mouths (silent)

Others will contain audio components with human sounds such as

amoeba sounds test

Compilation of test sounds for amoebae (one type of sound per work, activated by touch - tilt switch)

A short video work exploring the idea of eco-hauntology as a means of understanding the demise of the natural world through manipulated imagery and distorted sound.

Gone Wild, series of 5 colour prints,  50 x 75cm, 2024

A series of images that address the uneven relationship between humans and the natural world, both playfully and seriously drawing attention to the historical and contemporary  human arrogance that is leading to the destruction of natural habitats. In these photos, dead trees are highlighted, acting as monuments to the woods, which they are a part of, and yet distinct from.
